Turtle Shell Flake

This is a flake of a turtle shell brought to me by a good friend. It is a translucent sample. The dramatic color difference between the images, is a result of different lighting conditions. In the middle of the flake there is nothing really much to see but a few imperfections. A stronger microscope such as an electron microscope would of course reveal a lot more. However, I think images I managed to capture on the edges are quite interesting as well. They remind me of finger nails and in fact they do look a lot like finger nails. Enjoy!
