Human Kidney Cells – in Fluorescent Green!

The cells in the pictures are our kidney cells. DNA from jellyfish Aequorea Victoria has been introduced, caused cells to synthesize new protein that appears green under special wavelengths of light. First two pictures are taken under a bright field microscope, simplest you can ever imagine, and the last two photos were taken under fluorescent microscope which excites light at specific wavelengths by using filters. This process is surprisingly easy and can have dramatic results. In my opinion, this is a remarkable example of science showing its power, very elegantly.
